At The Panther Group, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) is not a box to be checked or a half-hearted initiative, it is built into the very fiber of the company. The company was founded in 1992 as Total Technical Services, Inc. by Kelvin Bernard with DE&I in the forefront and is a certified Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE). In 2016, Sean Cogdell and Tim Puglielli acquired the company with a commitment to continue Kelvin’s legacy. By building a team of dynamic professionals, they’ve continued along that path by developing new leaders in the industry who carry Kelvin’s commitment to DE&I forward.
5 Ways DE&I Is At the Core Of Our Business (And how to build it into your company too)
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion As Our Mission
At The Panther Group, we respect and empower our employees as individuals, trusting them to make decisions in our company’s best interest. Because Panther is a global company, we understand the importance of an equitable and inclusive workplace that’s supportive of different ideas. We have learned to be agile and adapt to ever-changing demographics to compete in a global marketplace. Panther takes the time to consult and coach business partners to help them embrace hiring and management practices that are both inclusive and forward thinking. This not only transforms the culture of hiring, but also helps our business partners develop a workforce that is dynamic and successful.
Mentoring for Success
The Panther Group has been successful because of our DE&I commitment and mentors who have led us since our beginning. We have paid that forward by mentoring other diverse, minority-owned businesses. We have competed successfully in the global marketplace and are eager to help emerging diverse, minority-owned businesses succeed.
Panther partners with vendors and other companies who share our commitment to DE&I and ascertain that our employer partners recognize its importance as well. We go out of our way to find candidates that include racial minorities, women, veterans, LGBTQ and individuals with disabilities. This results in providing the very best talent to meet employer need.
Panther Leadership is active with several diversity-focused organizations, including the board of The Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council (GNEMSDC). GNEMSDC is an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Their goal is to foster relationships between minority-owned businesses with corporations to create partnership opportunities. Panther’s work with these organizations carries over into the way the company engages with client partners and candidates, creating and developing successful, long-term relationships.
Walking the Walk
At The Panther Group, we don’t just conduct diversity-focused talent searches, our own workforce is 60% minority. If a minority candidate walks into our building for an interview, they don’t feel different or alone. It’s evident that the internal training and mentorships have continued to develop a diverse and inclusive culture from the inside out. Candidates are more comfortable if the company they work for reflects a diverse culture. The Panther Group is engaged with the community they serve through networking, mentoring and education, walking the DE&I walk.
