How To Find a Job As Our Country Continues To Reopen The Panther Group

If you were out of work for all or part of the pandemic, your first instinct might be to pick up where you left off when you’re ready to get back to work. You may be surprised to learn about the options that may be available to you. Demand has grown in some fields and dropped off in others. Many employees and job seekers transitioned into careers they found more rewarding, made better use of their skills, or showed more potential for growth.

Job Search Tips and Career Advice

1. Consider Jobs With Remote Potential

That doesn’t mean the position must currently be remote, just that it could conceivably be performed remotely should the need arise. Remote potential can give you more job security as well as give you more flexibility if you are interested in relocating or traveling.

2. Target Specific Companies

If you have organizations you have always wanted to work for, focus your energies on getting your foot in the door. Follow them on social media, check their website frequently and subscribe to any newsletters they may offer. It’s a great way to keep up with what is going on with them and learn about jobs before they come available, such as if they are opening a new branch. LinkedIn is a great place to see what’s most important to them and even connect. Comment thoughtfully on their posts and ask people to connect,

3. Network in New Ways

While in-person networking events may not be back for a while, virtual opportunities to connect are increasing. Join professional groups for your industry or position on Facebook and LinkedIn. You’ll find out what others are thinking, learn about opportunities or success strategies and create new relationships. Try to connect with local, regional, and nationwide groups to get a well-rounded view of what’s happening in your field. Be sure to give as well as take. Share thoughtful articles, job opportunities, or introduce people (with consent, of course).

4. Consider What You Want Next

Take some time to be introspective about the next step in your career. Try not to take the first opportunity that arises if it’s not the right one for you. Temporary work is a great way to keep income flowing while you figure out your next steps. Make a list of your skills and what you liked and didn’t like about previous jobs. Target companies and industries where your skills are welcome that are likely to have the sort of corporate culture and management style you prefer,

5. Boost Your Skills

Make yourself a more desirable candidate by taking classes, volunteering, and reading up on what employers are looking for in the coming years.
