Transform Your Recruitment and Work Culture – One Step at a Time

Transform Your Recruitment and Work Culture - One Step at a Time The Panther Group

Why is cultural transformation important? Like anything in business, you cannot afford to allow your culture to become stagnant.  Your core values should not change. But, if operating with integrity is important, for example, you won’t leave it behind, but how you apply it may change.

What is Cultural Transformation and How Can It Benefit an Organization?

Revisit Your Values, Mission and Culture

Is anything outdated? Does anything no longer apply? For example, just a few years ago, many companies didn’t consider making diversity part of their mission. Today, it’s unheard of for a company to fail to have a DE&I strategy and policy.

What Are the Advantages of Cultural Transformation?

  • Increased employee satisfaction and engagement
  • Higher productivity and performance
  • More cohesive brand Identity

Assess Your Current Culture – What’s Working And What’s Not

Avoid taking a top-down approach. When you begin with executive-level input, there can be a disconnect with how your current culture is playing out in the actual work environment. Solicit input from everyone – entry-level to every level of management. Experiment with anonymous surveys and small group discussion to determine what yields the most valuable thoughts.

What Do You Want More (And Less) Of?

Would you like a more cohesive, positive culture? Stronger customer relationships? More new customers? Are you hoping for less turnover? Fewer product returns? Reduced absenteeism? Understanding these goals are essential to moving forward. The key is to turn theory into action by developing a strategy to make your goals into reality.

Create Your Transformation Strategy

Once you have a list of goals for your culture, prioritize them in case you are unable to effectively integrate multiple goals at one time. Closely examine any goals that seem to conflict. If they are not aligned you are probably unclear on the direction you want to go.

Review your leadership. Are key people able to adapt and lead or will they resist and remain stuck in the past. The “we’ve always done it this way” mentality will only hold you back.

Examine your workforce. Do you have the right people in the right seats? Do you need to downside or add staff? Be sure your team has the skills, training and experience they need to succeed in the transformed culture.

Remain transparent. Ongoing communication is an essential part of a successful transformation. Employees will want to know what is going on, what to expect and what is expected of them. Show them they are part of the company’s future if they choose to be. Uncertainly can damage performance and lead to attrition.

Page Break

Give people time to adapt. Even those who don’t mind change can struggle with adopting a new reality. Cultural transformation can represent a massive shift for your organization, the people who work there and how you are perceived from the outside. Don’t rush the reluctant, lead them.

Recruit for your new reality. Be sure interviewers are aware of the new culture and have embraced it, so they are not hiring for what the organization used to be. Look for candidates whose values, behaviors and goals align with your plans.
