As we celebrate Black History Month, we want to highlight a pioneer within the staffing industry, and someone who has brought us all together here at Panther, the late Kelvin E. Bernard.
Kelvin began his career in the late-1980s at a Boston-based staffing firm as a recruiter.
As he began to experience success as a Recruiter, he desired to work in Business Development at the firm, however he was denied the opportunity due to the color of his skin. The firm he worked for refused Kelvin’s promotion request.
Needless to say, Kelvin was outraged and at that moment decided to start his own staffing firm and prove the nay-sayers wrong.
That incident in Kelvin’s career nearly 30 years ago led to the current day Panther Group. Today, Panther is the 8th largest Minority-Owned business, and largest African-American majority-owned staffing firm in New England. Much of the past success of the Panther Group is due to Kelvin’s vision, passion, dedication, and hard work.
Here’s to Kelvin E. Bernard, our very own Black History Month pioneer!
